W8: Ethics requirements
The consortium has decided to appoint an Ethics Advisory Board.
The Ethics Advisory Board is responsible for ensuring that all research activities are conducted in line with the highest ethical standards and relevant legal requirements, particularly regarding data protection, privacy, and inclusivity. The board’s mission is to oversee and ensure that the research practices do not harm anyone, with particular attention to social entrepreneurs, impact investors, and students involved in the interviews and data collection. The Ethics Advisory Board will also address the ethical implications of AI use, ensuring technical and social robustness to avoid risks or misuse.

The board’s role includes supervising ethical protocols for data collection (interviews, surveys, etc.), managing concerns related to vulnerable groups, and promoting diversity and inclusivity throughout the research. The Ethics Advisory Board will ensure that all activities comply with EU and international regulations, providing ongoing ethical research training to project participants. It will also handle any ethical concerns that arise, offering specific recommendations for addressing them.

Given that the target groups of social entrepreneurship may include vulnerable groups, the consortium has decided to include a human rights expert in the Ethics Advisory Board.
