Frederik Hovmark Pedersen
Frederik is a doctoral student at ESCP Business School. He holds a Bachelor's degree in International Business and a Master's degree in Finance and Strategic Management from Copenhagen Business School (CBS). He has also worked at CBS, first as a student research assistant at the Centre for Sustainability and later as a research assistant at the Center for Corporate Governance. In these roles, he has contributed to research on topics such as B Corps and sustainability routines, technology-driven innovation in healthcare, governance of enterprise foundations and hybrid organisations, and the performance of purpose-driven corporations. Alongside this, he has helped establish the Sustainable Innovation Camp, offered several times a year to students at Danish universities, which certifies them in how to tackle real-world problems that require innovative and sustainable solutions.
As a doctoral student in the seizmic programme, Frederik is focusing his research on how business model design and cross-sector collaboration influence the scaling of social entrepreneurship. Together with his supervisors, Prof. Dr. Florian Lüdeke-Freund (ESCP Business School) and Professor Esben Rahbek Gjerdrum Pedersen (CBS), he is exploring and classifying patterns of social business model designs, the nature of partnerships between different sectors and their impact on business model development, the evolutionary effects of market dynamics, and how these factors affect scaling pathways. Their work includes, among other things, a systematic literature review, a comparative case study, and the development of a conceptual model or framework for the classification of social business model designs, types of partnerships, and their relationship to scaling dynamics.
During the project, they are working closely with Impact Hub Berlin, an organisation that supports social entrepreneurs in developing ideas, establishing their ventures, and scaling their solutions. For example, by running incubator and accelerator programmes. Together, they are developing practical tools for scaling social business model designs and expanding impact
